Hi, I'm Sophronia!
I am a traveler, teacher, mental health counselor, and wellness coach.
Welcome to Adapted, my blog dedicated to helping foster families “adapt” to life before, during, and after their adoption process.
Last year I began fostering my daughter, Kitty, and since then life has been an adventure to say the least. We've both had to let go of the ideas we had of what life "should be” and accept what it actually is. - For me, that was finishing school, living freely as a bachelorette, getting married, and then starting a family. For Kitty, that was growing up happily with her birth mother and siblings. - I never imagined being a single mother so when the opportunity came to foster her I was apprehensive, but when I reflect on how much we’ve both grown in this short time I wouldn’t trade what we have for the world.

I believe in Jesus and in his power to mend broken hearts and make life new. Through his grace we've been able to build a life that is stable in the midst of storms, triumphant though there are trials, and hopeful no matter what's happening in or around us.
On this adoption journey I'm learning as I go. There have been plenty of trial and error!
I hope Adapted will be a place where you can find solace and support on your adoption journey as well.
